Lotus Seed Care

A Lotus Seed is easy to grow from seed as long as you know how.

First remove part of the tough seed coat.

This is what your seed should look like.

Drop your seed into a container that holds (use distilled water if possible) water.

When roots form, remove from container and place seedling (stick its roots into the mud) in a large water tight container approximately ½ full of a clay type soil. Any top soil from your local nursery will do if necessary. Do not use top soil that includes a lot of organic matter or manure; just straight top soil.

Gently fill with water. Allow your new lotus plant to sit until the roots anchor the plant to the soil. This takes about a week to 10 days. After it anchors itself you may place your lotus into your water feature.
